PERMAFLEX™

Steel-Encased Resilient Maple Sports Flooring System Built for Heavy Loads, Retrofit Flexibility, and Long-Term Athletic Performance

The Connor Sports PermaFlex™ Specialty Hardwood System is a high-performance resilient hardwood athletic flooring system engineered for gymnasiums, basketball courts, volleyball courts, fieldhouses, collegiate arenas, school athletic facilities, recreation centers, and multipurpose sports environments that require superior resilience, long-term durability, and dependable support under both athletic and non-athletic loads.

PermaFlex™ features a unique subfloor design that encapsulates Connor Rezill™ pads between an upper flex sleeper and a lower base sleeper, helping extend the system’s resilient life while supporting demanding facility use. The system uses manufactured 16-gauge steel-encased sleeper subfloor supports to help accommodate heavy non-athletic loads, making it a strong choice for multipurpose gymnasiums, event spaces, competition courts, and facilities that need hardwood sports flooring built for more than game-day performance.

At the surface, PermaFlex™ features Connor Laytite Maple, manufactured from MFMA Northern Hard Maple, delivering the durability, appearance, ball response, and playability expected from a premium hardwood basketball court floor. Beneath the maple surface, the system includes a minimum 6-mil polyethylene vapor barrier, 1/2" recycled rubber Connor Rezill pads, APA-rated upper flex sleepers, APA-rated lower base sleepers, 16-gauge coated steel PermaFlex Channel, and APA-rated plywood subfloor sheathing.

PermaFlex™ is built for projects that require resilient performance and dimensional flexibility. The system offers profile height options of 3" with 25/32" maple flooring and 15/32" plywood, or 3-1/4" with 25/32" maple flooring and 23/32" plywood. An optional factory-applied truss support can also be specified to provide full system profile height adjustment, making PermaFlex™ especially valuable for retrofit installations where finished floor elevation must be carefully coordinated.

The system is also designed with practical installation and facility performance in mind. PermaFlex channel sleepers are placed at right angles to the finished flooring, with optional 12" or standard 16" on-center spacing, expansion voids at perimeters and vertical obstructions, and optional steel Z clip anchorage for added concrete attachment. The result is a premium hardwood sports flooring system that combines resilient pad technology, steel-supported sleeper construction, maple court performance, and retrofit adaptability.

The product flyer identifies PermaFlex™ as a specialty hardwood system supported by certified testing through ISS Scientific Body Membership, ISO 14001:2015 manufacturing, recycled content contribution, United States Sports Surfacing Laboratory testing, and managed forest certification availability.
